Press Release
Support Service Issues Guidance for Member Administrators
Office of the Head of Service

The Support Service of the Velocity Interoperability Network today issued guidance for member administrators. Every member organisation appoints at least one administrator when it joins the Network. Administrators grant and remove access to the shared services for their organisation's staff, receive notices of planned maintenance, and are the first line of support within their organisation.
The guidance sets out the division of work between administrators and the Service. Routine matters such as creating an account, restoring a user's access and assigning services are for the administrator; the Service acts only where an organisation has no administrator or the administrator is unavailable. Outages may be reported by anyone, but the Service asks that administrators report on behalf of their organisation wherever possible so that one report covers a site rather than many.
At establishment 741 administrators were registered across 312 member organisations. Thirty-eight organisations have a single administrator, and the Service has written to each of them recommending that a second be appointed through the Registry. The full guidance, including the steps for setting up a new member of staff and answers to administrators' common questions, is set out on the Guidance for member administrators page of this site.
